About Designs by Jami

Jami Gilbert, Designer

Every day I create; digitizing embroidery files; it’s my passion!  Remember getting your embroidery machine?  You were so excited!  It may have even included some free designs! Yet, when stitched out, they were generic & did nothing to make your sewing project feel unique, special, beautiful…so you searched & while you found a few places after long searches, you had to sign up to websites which then allowed you to maybe purchase a file that was generic or stitched terribly with hundreds of trims that made no sense, & so you put away that embroidery machine & all the exciting dreams you had with it.  My search was the same – I wanted to create the most unique, beautiful embroidery for memory pillows, quilts & all my other sewing endeavors so I determined I would have to create the designs I envisioned.  That began my education in digitizing.

29 Million embroidery machines will be sold this year - why spend hundreds of dollars on a machine that cannot stitch what you want to stitch?  At this point, you have visualized your project...why not become a frequent flyer with a digitizer who can create virtually anything you need and want, to make your project happen!

The designs for embroidery machines are made by digitizers!

“What is digitizing?” Digitizing is the process of converting a file into a sequence of instructions the embroidery machine can interpret to sew thread in a specific way. Good digitizing is a form of art. It is also the key to a beautiful embroidered design.  I have seen many embroidery designs that have been “auto digitized” where the digitizer just clicks a button "instant digitizing" in a software program they do not understand.  You want to avoid these; while they create stitches, they only make sense to a computer, not an embroider!  Then there are designs that show they are available in all hoop sizes, but those are typically just “re-sized” by changing the size in the software increasing one design smaller or larger in one click; which means it will not stitch correctly or look right.  Every design needs to be digitized to a specific hoop size; that means every size is a new design & at Designs by Jami, they are!

Let me help you create that jaw-dropping project! In charge of a Bridal Team or Baby Shower?  I have already designed incredible files that can be easily customized to make your day the most memorable event! We have hundreds of designs from Winnie the Pooh, to Teddy Bears & Lions, “Oh My!”  Take a look at my Etsy Shop, my own website & even my Facebook page where I post all my designs & then reach out so we can make the design you’re dreaming of!

I have fully licensed digitizing software - Hatch 3 by Wilcom, and spent 3 years educating myself on the correct ways to digitize, so I was able to custom digitize anything for myself!  Now my machine has purpose!  All of which brought me to 2024, where I have been in business creating logos, graduation Stoles, weddings, and more, through my Etsy shop, website & in person!  I create, digitize, stitch custom logos, memory pillows, patches and any design or project, to help you create what you want...what YOU envision!

I test stitch all of my designs during the digitizing process & after.  I resolve any issues prior to listing my designs.  I can customize/personalize most of my designs for an additional fee; message me to find out if the customization you want, on one of my designs can be done & if so, for how much.I have created many designs with high stitch count; please make sure you understand embroidery basics of hooping, stabilizers, etc., prior to trying to stitch one of my designs that has over 200,000 stitches!

“I always believed that when you follow your heart or your gut, when you really follow the things that feel great to you, you can never lose, because settling is the worst feeling in the world.”

Let me know how I can help you with your project!  We will make it happen!
